Architecture and Data Control
This is the core difference. Everything else follows from it.

SureCart is a managed platform. The plugin runs on your WordPress site, but checkout, payments, and store data run through SureCart’s cloud infrastructure. You do not manage the heavy processing. You also depend on SureCart’s servers and API.

FluentCart lives entirely on your server. It stores products, orders, customers, and subscriptions in dedicated database tables, not WordPress post tables. It does not send checkout data to a third-party platform. Your host and your setup decide how it performs.
Pick SureCart to offload infrastructure. Pick FluentCart to own your data and stack.
Pricing and Fees
Both plugins have a free version. The difference is who takes a cut.
SureCart
- Launch (free): All features, plus a 2.9% fee on every sale.
- Pro Yearly: $199/year for 1 store. No transaction fee.
- Pro Lifetime: $699 one-time for 1 store. No transaction fee.
- Multi-store plans cost more (5 stores and unlimited stores).
SureCart includes the same feature set on every plan. You pay to remove the fee, not to unlock features. If your Pro plan lapses, the store reverts to the Launch plan and the fee returns.
FluentCart
- Free (WordPress.org): Core store, subscriptions, Stripe and PayPal. 0% transaction fees.
- Pro Annual: $199/year (1 site), $499/year (5 sites), $699/year (15 sites).
- Pro Lifetime (early-bird): $249 (1 site), $499 (5 sites), $799 (15 sites).
Pro adds licensing, installments, advanced inventory, advanced reports, and more. If your license lapses, you keep the features. You lose updates and premium support.
| Monthly revenue | SureCart free (2.9%) | FluentCart free |
|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $29/month | $0 |
| $5,000 | $145/month | $0 |
| $10,000 | $290/month | $0 |
At around $7,000 in total sales, SureCart’s free-plan fees pass the cost of a yearly Pro license. Growing stores should budget for Pro on either platform.
Features
Both plugins sell physical products, digital downloads, subscriptions, and licenses. Both support coupons, order bumps, taxes, EU VAT, invoices, a REST API, and webhooks.
SureCart includes more growth tools in one place:
- Cart abandonment recovery
- One-click upsells, order bumps, and price boosts
- Built-in affiliate platform
- Multi-currency checkout (135+ currencies)
- Agency suite to manage client stores from one account
FluentCart goes deeper on ownership and the Fluent ecosystem:
- Native integration with FluentCRM, FluentAffiliate, FluentCommunity, and Fluent Support
- Cart abandonment and affiliates handled by dedicated Fluent tools
- Fast single-page app admin
- Headless-ready REST API with no platform rate limits
- Product reviews with verified purchase badges (added in v1.7.0)
SureCart gives you more out of the box. FluentCart gives you more control, especially if you already use Fluent plugins.
Performance and Scalability
SureCart offloads checkout and payment processing to its cloud. Your WordPress server does less work. Traffic spikes hit SureCart’s infrastructure, not your host. The trade-off is API rate limits on heavy automation.
FluentCart uses indexed custom tables built for orders and subscriptions. It stays fast as data grows, but it scales with your hosting. Cheap shared hosting will cap it. Good hosting will not.
Payment Gateways

SureCart: Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, Razorpay, Paystack, manual payments, and 100+ payment methods through these processors.

FluentCart: Stripe, PayPal, Paddle, Mollie, Razorpay, Paystack, Authorize.Net, Square, Mercado Pago, and cash on delivery. Custom gateways via hooks.
FluentCart charges no fee on top of your gateway. SureCart charges no fee on paid plans.
Spam Protection and Security
Online stores attract bots. Fake orders, fake accounts, coupon abuse, and card testing attacks cost you payment processor fees, chargebacks, and account standing. According to oopspam’s 2025 Annual Spam Report, eCommerce spam rose to 22% of all tracked spam, up from 15% the year before. Card testing drove most of that growth.
SureCart security

Go to SureCart > Settings > Advanced > Spam Protection & Security to enable:
- Honeypot field to catch basic bots
- Google reCAPTCHA v3 (score-based, no puzzles)
- Restricted test mode, so only admins can create test orders
- Strong password validation
FluentCart security

- Cloudflare Turnstile support on checkout
- Test-mode protection for staging sites
- Data stays on your server, which simplifies GDPR compliance
Where native protection falls short
CAPTCHA and honeypots stop simple bots. They do not stop human spammers, CAPTCHA-solving services, or card testers who rotate VPNs and cloud IPs. Neither plugin checks an order’s IP and email against a reputation database. Neither offers country blocking or per-IP rate limiting at checkout. That gap is where most fake orders get through.
How to Protect SureCart and FluentCart with oopspam
oopspam supports both SureCart and FluentCart through the same WordPress plugin. It runs in the background with no CAPTCHA, so real customers check out without friction.

Install the oopspam Anti-Spam plugin from WordPress.org.

Create a free account and copy your API key.

Go to Settings > oopspam Anti-Spam and paste the key. Set the Sensitivity Level. “Moderate” works for most stores.

Find the SureCart or FluentCart section and toggle on Activate Spam Protection.

Then tighten protection with:
- Block VPNs and cloud providers to stop anonymous traffic common in card testing
- Country blocking to limit orders to the markets you serve
- Rate limiting per IP or email to stop rapid-fire order attempts
- Manual rules to block specific IPs, emails, or keywords
- Spam and valid entry logs to see why each order was blocked
oopspam checks every submission against a database of 500M+ malicious IPs and emails. One API key covers unlimited sites, which suits agencies running SureCart and FluentCart stores side by side. Logs stay in your WordPress database, and IP and email analysis can be turned off for stricter privacy needs.
Which One Should You Choose?
Choose SureCart if you:
- Want a managed checkout with minimal server maintenance
- Need multi-currency checkout or a built-in affiliate program
- Prefer every growth tool in one dashboard
- Plan to manage many client stores from one account
Choose FluentCart if you:
- Want full data ownership inside your own database
- Refuse to pay transaction fees, even on a free plan
- Already use FluentCRM or other Fluent plugins
- Need unrestricted API access for custom or headless builds
Final Thoughts
SureCart wins on convenience. FluentCart wins on ownership and cost. Both are strong choices.
Your store still needs protection either way. Built-in honeypots, reCAPTCHA, and Turnstile only stop basic bots. oopspam adds IP and email reputation checks, VPN blocking, country filtering, and rate limiting to both SureCart and FluentCart checkouts, without adding a CAPTCHA to your checkout.
